New Republic Advertisers Face Boycott

Beauchamp Fiasco Won't Go Away

Military bloggers and bloggers from the right are calling for a boycott of marketers who advertise in The New Republic. Of course, the news here is that The New Republic still had advertisers!

This follows on the heels of revelations that suggest that not only did soldier Scott Beauchamp fictionalize his accounts of military brutality, but that the magazine has dragged its heels on the investigation.

UPDATE: Of course, there are two sides to every story.

That LA Times piece you linked to is so full of factual errors that it's beyond embarrassing. Forgetting its ideological slant, just look at the basic facts Rutten got wrong:

Given that terrible, brutal things happen in all wars, and that some will have happened in this one, why is the New Republic (and Tim Rutten) trying to persuade us of the veracity of a liar, rather than trying to come up with true stories from the Iraq conflict? It smacks of laziness and a lack of conviction...
