BRANDI CHASTAIN scores with bra

Published on .

The winning Women's World Cup soccer kick resulted in U.S. player Brandi Chastain taking off her shirt -- but not her Nike bra. (She revealed more skin later in an issue of Vanity Fair). As a result, her commercial endorsements took off. But this wasn't a calculated marketing move by the famed sports apparel maker -- Nike hadn't even put the bras, called Inner Actives, in stores at that time. Not to be left out, Nike re-created Ms. Chastain's famed goal-scoring move in a TV spot that had her playing foosball with basketball's Kevin Garnett. After her winning wrist shot, it left Mr. Garnett wondering when she was going to take off her shirt.
