Leo and MacManus groups wed

Agency merger mania continued in 1999, with Leo Group and MacManus Group announcing a November nuptial. The two privately held companies joined to form the fourth-largest advertising company, behind Omnicom Group, Interpublic Group of Cos. and WPP Group. Tokyo-based Dentsu took a 20% stake in the merged operations, leading the tentative name of BDM for the new company. Year 2000 plans call for taking BDM public.
