Commercials production got a slight boost in January, according to the Creativity Production Index, the average number of spots produced by a sample of agency offices. The Index has been in the doldrums since peaking in October, but the new year seems to have kicked up a little new business. Los Angeles also got a boost as commercials production days there rose slightly last month compared to December, according to the L.A. Film Office, although they fell 10 percent compared to a year ago. Overall, and like the rest of the economy, the production industry remains tentative, as advertisers tread lightly in the face of domestic and international uncertainty.
