Is Cindy McCain the Real Maverick in the Family?

In Anti-Bullying Spot, Implicitly Criticizes 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

By Published on .

John McCain once campaigned against George W. Bush as a maverick. Since then he's flip-flopped so many times and so many positions, John Kerry could have sued him for trademark infringement. Indeed, at one point John McCain claimed that he never called himself a maverick. But it looks like someone in the family is.

And I'm not talking about daughter Meghan, who has basically become the Nicole Richie of the political world. No, I'm talking about wife Cindy, who is in this video (found via Jezebel) meant to confront the bullying of gay kids. In it, she says: "Our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future. They can't serve our country openly." Which is interesting, because her husband John is fighting the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
