Walt Disney Co.'s CEO Bob Iger has sent a letter to Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., promising to keep smoking out of future movies. Which means there won't be any more villains wielding cigarette holders (hear that Cruella De Vil?) or Goofy trying to kick the habit for that matter, as he did in this 1951 short.
At least Goofy recognized the error of his habit, non-Disney characters Fred and Barney seem blissfully unaware of tobacco's dark side. Indeed, they were shills for Winston.
