Ford Owner Bashes Bailed Out Auto Companies in Ad

Spot Getting Noticed by Drudge, Political Blogs

During the darker days of the U.S. bailout of General Motors and Chrysler, a lot of people were wondering if Ford was going to go after the corporate welfare cases in its advertising. For the most part, the automaker took the high road. But now one ad in part of its "Press Conference" series of ads blatantly makes the case that consumers prefer a company that didn't take government money.

Says Ford truck owner Chris in the spot: "I wasn't going to buy any another car that was bailed out by our government. I was going to buy from a manufacturer that 's standing on their own, win, lose, or draw. That's what America's about is taking the chance to succeed and understanding when you fail that you gotta pick yourself up and go back to work. Ford is that company for me."

Interestingly, though the upload date on YouTube is May of this year, the ad is now being picked up by political blogs and sites like The Drudge Report.
