Attention Tweeters: GM chief Fritz Henderson is coming to Twitter June 16* to answer consumer questions. The 30-minute session, due to start at 2:45 p.m., will be based at the auto giant's @gmblogs account at twitter.com/gmblogs.
Like other major marketers, GM has made a big push into social media. Last year, as part of its 100-year anniversary celebration, the carmaker invited people around the world to share their first-person experiences from its 100-year history to the Generations of GM Wiki on GMnext.com.
Let's face it, it's a cheaper and more direct than advertising to get its message right to consumers. Which is why Fritz isn't the only auto chief to take on Twitter. Ford boss Alan Mulally answered consumers questions in mid-April on Twitter and posted a video of the event on YouTube. As of June 12, the video had 4,157 views.
The auto chiefs join the ranks of other tweeting top guys like Sun's Jonathon Schwartz, Zappos.com's Tony Hsieh and Virgin's Richard Branson.
