Honda Takes a Jab at Lexus Holiday Ads

May Offend Those of You Who Buy Cars as Christmas Presents

By Published on .

The Happy Honda Days spokesman, played by Patrick Warburton, seems to find those Lexus red-bow holiday ads as insufferable as I do. In a new Honda spot from RPA, Warburton knocks the red bow off a Honda after declaring "Are you a millionaire? No? Well then you probably don't give cars to people as presents." Now that 's a message that might resonate with the 99% (or the portion of it who drive gas-powered cars to their jobs instead of camping out in parks like cavemen). It also works very well for those of us who are already sick of the current incarnation of a Lexus campaign that seems tailor-made to speak to the 10% who really, really want to be the 1%.
