BATAVIA, Ohio (AdAge.com) -- People who do some of their best thinking on the toilet now have the perfect context for their blogging. Procter & Gamble Co. is looking to hire five "Charmin Ambassadors" to staff its Times Square bathrooms this holiday season and blog about the experience.
Successful applicants "must really [emphasis not ours] enjoy going to the bathroom," according to the website EnjoytheGo.com.
But this is not just about love of toileting. They'll also be paid the princely, especially for blogging, sum of $10,000 for the roughly five-week gig (Nov. 23 to Dec. 31). If only Arianna Huffington were so generous.
Tryouts, or applications, will be held Nov. 5 at the New York Hilton at 53rd Street and 6th Avenue. Applicants should bring photos and resumes and be prepared to explain why they "enjoy the go" more than anyone else. It's not clear whether having a graduate degree in journalism will help or hinder an applicant's chances.
It's also not clear whether winning applicants will, as in years past, dress up in toilet costumes and walk around outside the Charmin establishment. But imagine the opportunity to tell the grandkids someday that you once dressed up as a human toilet for P&G, then blogged about it.
For those who thought Rudy Giuliani had put an end to this sort of thing on Times Square more than a decade ago, think again.
