This year is starting out gangbusters for Michael Zadoorian, who toils part-time afternoons at Campbell-Ewald on accounts such as OnStar and Olympic Paints. The senior copywriter's second novel goes on sale Jan. 27, nine long years after his first fiction book came out. "I thought it would be easier getting my second one published," Mr. Z said, but the search for a new agent, editor and publisher took longer than he expected.
The new dark comedy is called "The Leisure Seeker," which is a reference to the brand name of the RV driven around the country by an elderly couple seeking one final adventure. The male protagonist is based on his father.
Film Producer Jeffrey Sharp has acquired the film rights with Morrow editor Jennifer Pooley. Mr. Z is following in the footsteps of Campbell-Ewald grad and crime novelist Elmore Leonard, who wrote a short blurb on the book's back cover. Mr. Z's third book of fictional short stories arrives in April. His web site is www.MichaelZadoorian.com.
