OfficeMax Will Sponsor Anyone

By Published on .

Seeing your brand name get mashed up on a race car must be exciting. Having Tiger Woods wear your watch when he wins his kajillionth golf tournament must be mind-blowing. However, knowing that you supported the man who's about to unveil the world's largest rubberband ball . . . er, titillating?

According to BoingBoing.net, Chi-town man Steve Milton is going for a world record: "Experts predict the OfficeMax-sponsored rubber band ball – created by Milton with help from his 6-year-old son, Bryce – will break the earlier world record of 3,120 pounds, set by John Bain of Wilmington, Del. The 26-year-old Milton, who started his ball in November 2005 with a number of small OfficeMax rubber bands, says the ball now contains 175,000 individual rubber bands."

And when all is said and done, will the Guinness Book of World Records even acknowledge OfficeMax's sacrifice for the glory of rubberband-hood?
