Online Porn Use Declining?

Let's Not Get Too Excited

By Published on .

Interesting post over at Shake Well Before Use, where Ariel Waldman takes a peek at a recent Economist article stating that traffic to such social-networking sites as MySpace and FaceBook are "poised to overtake traffic to sex sites in America any day now."

Waldman points out that numbers "like these fail to recognize that the interweb can't be compartmentalized by just sex or information." In other words, there's porn in them there social-networking sites -- as anyone with a MySpace account can tell you. It's a great point to remember when people start throwing numbers and categories around, especially when it comes to the internet. Seldom are these attempts at categorization as neat and tidy as they appear.
