Procter & Gamble Co. is denying its part of any plot to help one of its thousands of alums, Surya Yalamanchili, get elected to Congress. His opponent in today's Democratic primary in Ohio's second district, David Krikorian, isn't buying it.
Mr. Krikorian was named Friday as one of Keith Olbermann's "Worst Persons in the World" for allegedly making a slur against Mr. Yalamanchili by telling a Clermont County, Ohio, veteran's group that a person with such a name couldn't be elected in the state's second district. Mr. Krikorian denied ever making the comment, but two Democratic county chairmen and the Republican incumbent in the district, Jean Schmidt, claim he did.
Mr. Krikorian's latest comeback is that Mr. Olbermann was acting out a plot hatched by P&G, presenting as evidence that an ad for Mr. Yalamanchili's old brand, Olay, ran on the MSNBC show the same night as his "Worst Person" honor. Check the story out here.
As a historical note, if Mr. Yalamanchili does win the primary and goes on to win the general election, he may be the first person ever to defeat two of Mr. Olbermann's "Worst Persons in the World." Ms. Schmidt has received the honor as well.
