Times Director of Advertising Talks to the Public

Perhaps the Post Should Give It a Read

Even as the New York Post yesterday published yet another columnist decrying the New York Times' shady, unpatriotic advertising practices -- this despite the Times' explanation of the concept of standby ad rates -- the Times Director of Advertising Steph Jespersen was kicking off a "Talk to the Times" feature. And wouldn't you know it, the first question is about MoveOn.org's General Petraeus ad (aka the gift that keeps on giving to the Republicans).

Then again, this could all be an elaborate ploy by the Times to cover its tracks by letting people know that any advocacy group can have a full-page ad (on a standby basis) for $65K
