Indeed New York tops the list for raw check-ins (followed by Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago), but if you scale the check-ins based on population some surprising markets emerge. Leading the ranks of per-capita check-ins is Charlottesville, Va., followed by Washington, D.C., Austin and North Platte, Neb. We'll guess you didn't see that one coming.
