The World Series of Poker may boast some cutthroat competition, but it's nothing compared to sitting across the table from Deadwood's resident badass Al Swearengen at the Gem Saloon. To promote the third season of the gritty HBO series, Fuel Industries created a first-person online poker game using Virtools, a technology platform that brings video game console-quality 3D graphics to web browsers. In addition to putting their Texas Hold-'Em skills to the test, players can interact with fully-rendered recreations of Deadwood regulars like Al, Trixie and E.B. Farnum by delivering stinging taunts or even taking aim with a fully-loaded six-shooter—proving that there's much more to this game than just the cards.
