Who knew that stodgy old Hewlett Packard would emerge from a draining, high-profile buyout battle as the vibrant, butterfly of a marketer it's become? Well, Goodby, Silverstein & Parnters, for one. The agency created the HP "+" device early on in the HP/Compaq talks and developed it into a great-looking and relevant design hook that positions HP as a dynamic tech partner to people and corporations. Tapping a Who's Who of directorial dynamos, Goodby cranked out one beautiful ad after another until we couldn't help but name it Campaign of the Year.
