Agencies Chase $20 Million Ad Account

CHICAGO (ADAge.com) -- Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits named three finalists for its review of its $20 million advertising account, according to the consultant handling the review.

mid-September are two Interpublic Group of Cos. agencies, Averett, Free & Ginsberg, New York, and Austin-Kelley, Atlanta, and independent agency Cramer-Krasselt, Chicago.

Agency I.D., Atlanta, is conducting the review.

The fast-food chain, part of AFC Enterprises, called the review in June after ending its relationship with Interpublic's Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, New York. Hill Holliday is still working on the account as the review progresses.

A decision is expected at the end of September.

Accounting investigation
Last week, AFC said it delivered a report on an investigation of accounting issues from outside counsel for the board of director's audit committee to the Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel. AFC's books are being reaudited and the company asked for more time to file a restated 2002 annual report pending the outcome of that investigation.
