By Published on .

CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Allied Domecq, Westport, Conn., is in talks with its media-buying shop Zenith Media, New York, to consolidate domestic media planning for its liquor brands, according to people familiar with the matter.

The planning business is currently with Allied's creative agencies Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide, Chicago; Cordiant Communications Group's Bates Worldwide, New York; and d-rush, a joint venture between Russell Simmons and Interpublic Group of Cos.

Creative shops and media reps were notified of the talks earlier this week.

Media spending for the combined brands, which include Kahlua, Stolichnaya, Beefeater, Sauza and Tia Maria, is estimated between $40 million and $50 million.
