Eight Agencies Chase Anti-Smoking Group's $65 Million Account

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The American Legacy Foundation has narrowed the list for its estimated $65 million advertising review to six agencies, which will compete for the account against the anti-smoking group's two incumbents.

are Interpublic Group of Cos.' Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich., and sibling Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; independent Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore.; Publicis' Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis; Omnicom Group's Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, and sibling GSD&M, Austin, Texas. The incumbents are Havas' Arnold Worldwide, Boston, and Miami-based Crispin Porter Bogusky, of which Maxxcom has a 49% stake.

Finalists will be named later this month, with a decision in May.

American Legacy already selected Media Head, New York, to be its media agency; the group is also looking for a public relations shop as it reassesses all of its contracts in light of tightening budgets.
