Havas' Arnold Worldwide has named Jim Elliott to the newly created post of global chief creative officer.
The appointment marks Arnold Global President Pam Hamlin's most recent addition to the agency's leadership team -- she brought on New York President Peter Grossman last July.
"The creation of this role is a really big part of the next part of plans here at Arnold -- building our brand here in the U.S. and beyond," said Ms. Hamlin. " We really felt like there was a need for someone to be a really close partner of mine… to spread the message of Arnold across our offices."
Mr. Elliott joins the creative agency from Y&R New York, where he had been chief creative officer for three years, leading its creative efforts for clients including Land Rover, Dell, Campbell Soup Co. and Virgin Atlantic. Prior to that, he had been a group creative director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
Both Mr. Elliott and Ms. Hamlin said that good chemistry was a deciding factor for them. "It's going to be about helping Pam really submit and grow a philosophy," said Mr. Elliott.
Though he will be based in Boston, Mr. Elliott will travel to New York as needed in order to "help the New York team elevate the work its doing and grow the Arnold vision there," he said. From there, the plan is to expand the agency and its global influence.
"It's really going to be about growing Arnold," said Mr. Elliott, "What's great is that it has this boutique feel, but with the resources and support of the Havas network."
Mr. Elliott's start date has yet to be finalized, though it will be later this quarter.
