Says 'Due Diligence' Underway for $34.5 Million Account

By Published on .

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Avon Products has contacted media agencies about its $34.5 million media buying and planning business, a spokeswoman at the cosmetic marketer said.

The spokeswoman would not characterize the process as a review, but said the company was practicing "due diligence."

Media executives with knowledge of the process said Avon, headquartered in New York, sent out requests for proposals over the weekend. Publicis Groupe's Starcom MediaVest Worldwide is the incumbent. The agency is expected to defend.

Creative, handled in-house and by Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore., is not part of the review.
