Agency Gets All Marketing Activities for $25-$30 Million Business

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Major League Baseball, the parent organization of professional baseball franchises, has tapped Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson, New York, as its agency of record.

The move comes after the contract between MLB and its former agency, Interpublic sibling Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco, was not renewed when it expired Dec. 31.

McCann-Erickson said today the client has consolidated with it all marketing activities, which include not only advertising but strategy, research and integrated consumer marketing. McCann will also develop communications for MLB's All-Star Game, the Century 21 Home Run Derby and the World Series.

MLB estimated billings on the consolidated account will be $25 million to $30 million. There was no formal review.
