BP ENDS AGENCY 'BENCHMARKING EXERCISE'

$200 Million Account to Remain With Ogilvy

DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- BP said it is keeping its $200 million consolidated global advertising account with Ogilvy & Mather, part of WPP Group.

Executive Calls Action a 'Benchmarking Exercise'
for information to as many as 10 unnamed advertising agencies as part of a "benchmarking exercise" but denied it was conducting a search for a new agency. A spokeswoman today said the exercise has been completed and the account is remaining with Ogilvy.

Ogilvy won BP's consolidated global account without a review in fall 1999. Its London office is the lead shop. Ogilvy's Chicago office handles BP's U.S. account.
