CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Burger King Corp., Miami, is in talks with Deutsch, Los Angeles, to handle advertising for the fall launch of its 99-cent value menu.

the Diageo unit, confirmed the company is in financial negotiations with the Interpublic Group of Cos.' agency for the project.

The chain was also in talks with other Interpublic shops, including Martin Agency, Richmond, Va., and Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis.

"Our discussions are focusing on Deutsch at this time," he said.

Mr. Braasch was quick to note that, as with other agencies on its roster, the relationship with Deutsch would be a fluid, "project based" one and could expand from or be limited to the initial value assignment, depending on the company's needs.

Deutsch's L.A. client roster is dominated by the Mitsubishi Motors of America account.
