Planning and Buying Assignment Estimated at $5-$10 Million

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Zurich Life hired Aegis Group's Carat USA, Chicago, as its new media agency, replacing incumbent Wunderman, New York, a unit of WPP Group.

Wunderman has initially defended the account against Carat; Publicis Groupe's Starlink Worldwide, Chicago; and independents Doner, Southfield, Mich., and A. Eicoff & Co., Chicago. The contenders were further trimmed last month to Carat and Doner, said Christine Sheridan, senior marketing program manager at the Schaumberg, Ill.-based insurer.

Zurich Direct
The account, estimated at $5 million to $10 million, includes only media planning and buying for the Zurich Direct unit, which markets life insurance directly to consumers via TV, newspaper and direct-mail advertising.

Creative will remain in-house.

Consultancy Bob Wolf Partners TPG, Los Angeles, handled the review.
