Requests for proposals have been sent out to roughly 20 agencies, said Kate Dawson, director of marketing for CareerBuilder.
The business, worth between $14 million to $20 million, will include TV, print and outdoor work.
Agency responses are due back next week, after which the company will narrow competition to five shops. A final decision is expected by May 15.
CareerBuilder's incumbent agency, Interpublic Group of Cos.' Martin Agency, was invited to participate in the pitch but declined the opportunity.
CareerBuilder, now headquartered in Reston, Va., plans to move its operations to Chicago later this year.
