Requests for proposals will be sent to agencies in the next few days, a Mohegan Sun spokesman said. An executive familiar with the review said spending on the account is anticipated to be between $25 million and $30 million.
The review will encompass creative and media planning, both currently handled by independent Cliff Freeman & Partners, New York, which has been invited to compete in the review, the spokesman said. He said the ad agency intends to defend its account.
A call to the agency's founder and principal, Cliff Freeman, seeking confirmation was not returned at press time.
Broadcast buying, currently handled by Mintz & Hoke, Avon, Conn., and print buying, handled by Media Space Solutions, Norwalk, Conn., are not part of the review, the Mohegan Sun spokesman said.
Consultant Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., is conducting the review.
Mohegan Sun spent $13.9 million in measured media in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR, and $11.5 million for the first nine months of 2003.
