Review Is for $95 Million Ad Account

SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Discount brokerage firm Charles Schwab Corp. has narrowed the search for an ad agency to handle its $95 million account to seven shops.

Portland, Ore., and Gardner Nelson & Partners, New York; Publicis Groupe's Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, and Saatchi & Saatchi, New York; Interpublic Group of Cos.' Hill Holliday Conners Cosmopulos, Boston, Havas' Euro RSCG, New York; and Grey Global Group's Grey Worldwide, New York.

The incumbent on the account, Omnicom Group's GSD&M, Austin, Texas, declined to defend.

Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., is conducting the review. A decision is expected by Thanksgiving.

Media not in play
In addition to GSD&M, which handles creative, Schwab's agency roster includes independent Rubin Postaer & Associates, Santa Monica, Calif., for TV buying; and Omnicom's PHD for media planning and print buying. The media services portion of the account is not in review.
