CHICAGO ( -- Bonefish Grill, a 137-unit chain owned by OSI Restaurant Partners, has tapped Cliff Freeman & Partners, New York, as its first full-service agency. Previously, the chain, which is concentrated in the eastern and Midwestern U.S., worked only with a shop called Starfish, New York, as a branding agency.

Finalists for the account were not disclosed. The account had been in review for most of the summer.

'Dynamic time'
"Cliff Freeman and Partners worked diligently during our review process to deliver sound strategic thinking and creative concepts that excited our review committee," said Richard Turer, VP-marketing at Bonefish. "I am confident that this new partnership will further invigorate an already exciting organization during this dynamic time."

While Bonefish spent less than $3 million last year, it's expected to ramp up outlays under Cliff Freeman, which will handle brand strategy, marketing-communications planning, customer relationship marketing and web development.

"We have a tremendous opportunity to give this growing and relevant restaurant concept a voice with the consumer, and given all of the great things we've learned, we know we'll have the chance to do some groundbreaking work," said Cliff Freeman, chairman-CEO of the agency that created the tagline "Pizza Pizza" for Little Caesar's.
