The Sports Authority's incumbent, WestWayne, Tampa, withdrew from the review in November.
Merger with Gart
The review consolidates the ad accounts of Sports Authority and Gart Sports Co., which merged in August under the Sports Authority name in Gart's home base of Englewood, Colo. The account is estimated at $80 million. Gart's advertising was handled in-house and media buying by independent Kelly, Scott & Madison, Chicago.
Cliff Freeman will handle both creative and media and will create a campaign to introduce the post-merger company, which includes Sports Authority and Gart Sports stores, as well as the Sportmart and Oshman chains.
