CP&B's Miami office is getting a new creative leader.
The MDC Partners agency has plucked Bob Winter from Y&R Chicago, where he served as chief creative officer, to lead the Miami creative department. Mr. Winter succeeds Ari Merkin in the role.
Mr. Merkin, who had worked at CP&B earlier in his career, rejoined the Miami office in 2010 to help rebuild the shop that became an outpost after Alex Bogusky moved the agency's headquarters to Boulder. But less than two years later, Mr. Merkin exited the agency, once again leaving the shop without a visible leader.
In the new role, Mr. Winter will work with clients such as Arby's , MetLife and Kraft.
"The first time I met Bob, I knew he would be a perfect fit for CP&B," said the agency's Global Chief Creative Officer Rob Reilly. "Because it is not just about having creative pedigree here. It's about being able to inspire and motive young creatives to be better than they think they can be. We believe Bob is that special of a person."
Though he most recently spent time at Y&R, Mr. Winter is probably best known for the Bud Light "Real Men of Genius" campaign, which he worked on at DDB. He also had creative roles at Goodby Silverstein & Partners and at Leo Burnett USA, and he has also taught at the Chicago Portfolio School. Other brands he's worked on include McDonald's, Nintendo, Craftsman, Altoids, Netflix, Ace Hardware and PETA. Currently Mr. Winter is in the midst of making a short film examining the history of the KISS song "Beth."
In a statement, Mr. Winter said: "This is a terrific chance to help make some of the most provocative work in the world, in the office that started it all for CP&B, and we're going to have a lot of fun making some unbelievable stuff."
As reported yesterday, Mr. Winter's successor at Y&R has already been chosen. Bill Cimino is joining from DDB Chicago, where he spent the past eight years, most recently as the senior VP-exec creative director and global creative director on McDonald's.
