DARKGREY WINS NOKIA'S $35 MILLION ACCOUNT

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Nokia has selected DarkGrey, New York, the technology unit of Grey Worldwide, to handle its estimated $35 million creative account. Grey Worldwide currently has some of Nokia's international business.

A call to Nokia was not immediately returned.

Independent agency Richards Group, Dallas, was the previous agency on the account.

The Finnish marketer controls has the largest share of the U.S. cell phone market, with 33% in 2003, according to IDC. However, competitors such as Samsung, which jumped from 10% in 2002 to 14% in 2003, Motorola and Siemens are starting to make gains. Nokia also is developing game and camera capabilities as it moves into the entertainment marketplace.

Grey Worldwide handles Nokia in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and does global work for Nokia's N-gage gaming phone. Other agencies handle Nokia in other parts of the world.
