NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Sean Finnegan is leaving Starcom Mediavest Group as president-chief digital officer in what's said to be a mutual decision. Mr. Finnegan occupied the post for only two years and was tasked with expanding the Publicis Groupe media company's digital practice and revenue globally.
"We can confirm that SMG and Sean Finnegan have made a mutual decision to separate," an SMG spokeswoman said in a statement. "This decision has given SMG an opportunity to evaluate our overall digital leadership structure. We will announce these plans when they are confirmed."
"I am weighing a couple opportunities and haven't decided on what's next," said Mr. Finnegan. He is considering opportunities on the client or product side, said one executive familiar with his plans.
As a father of seven, Mr. Finnegan said he's looking forward to spending the holidays at home after the rigorous travel the job demands.
Prior to SMG, he served a quick stint as chief marketer for Vibrant Media after a long tenure at Omnicom Group. In early 2008, he left the holding company as CEO of Omnicom Media Group Digital.
