Account Team to Shift to Del Monte After Pending Sale

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- H.J. Heinz Co. has awarded its Kibbles 'n Bits and 9-Lives pet food brands to Doner, Detroit, a spokesman for the Pittsburgh-based company said.

fellow finalists Element 79, a unit of the Omnicom Group, and Interpublic Group of Cos.' Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis, was awarded the business because "they understood the strength of the brands and have had a lot of recent successes with such brands as Mazda and Serta," the spokesman said.

Heinz's sale of its pet food brands, among other products, to Del Monte Foods is on track to close by year's end, but the spokesman said the brand team that chose Doner will become Del Monte employees and does not foresee an agency realignment.
