Troubled Chain The Wiz Faces Store Closings

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Cablevision Systems Corp.'s The Wiz has awarded its creative account to Wolf Group, New York, ending an eight-month review.

Billings were not disclosed, but the Bethpage, N.Y.-based consumer electronics chain spent $47 million last year and $18 million through the first six months of this year,

However, it is expected the billings will be less than that as cash-strapped parent Cablevision is closing more than half of its 43 Wiz stores.

Wolf Group beat out Omnicom Group's Zimmerman & Partners, which teamed with Cliff Freeman & Partners; Cordiant Communications Group's Bates Worldwide; Publicis Groupe's Fallon Worldwide; Hampel/Stefanides; and Concept Farm, all New York.
