CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- Euro RSCG, Chicago, has expanded its relationship with Sprint to include digital duties.*
Euro's Chicago office already handled the telco giant's direct-marketing efforts, but the expanding relationship is the latest bit of good news for an office that, barely three years ago, was widely perceived to be on the verge of closing.
"Our partners at Euro RSCG have done great things with our direct-marketing efforts, and we look forward to similar successes in the digital space," Bronson Broockerd, Sprint's manager of direct, e-mail and SMS marketing, said in a statement. "We're confident the team at Euro will bring both strategic and tactical excellence to our digital-marketing efforts."
Sprint's previous digital-marketing agency was Omnicom Group's Tequila. The company did not disclose spending.
Euro, which survived its lean years by leaning on its below-the-line capabilities, has also added traditional creative work for brands such as Valspar and Anheuser-Busch's Michelob in the past year. It did lose prominent client Circuit City to bankruptcy late last year.
"Being able to showcase our digital offering for Sprint is exciting. I'm confident that our unified agency model will help us deliver programs that not only deliver results but consistently reinforce the Sprint offering in the digital-marketing space," said Ron Bess, CEO of Euro RSCG, Chicago, and chief operating officer for North America.~ ~ ~
CORRECTION: The original version of this story inaccurately stated that Euro had been named digital marketing agency of record for Sprint. While a press release announcing the agency's additional duties for Sprint claimed AOR status, a Sprint spokeswoman said Euro's release, which quoted a Sprint executive, was "too broad."
