Agencies' London Offices to Coordinate Creative for Core Categories

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Household cleaning manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser tapped Euro RSCG Worldwide and J. Walter Thompson to handle creative work for its five core categories worldwide.

WPP Group's JWT will be responsible for surface, health and personal care products, with the agency's London operations acting as lead office, while Euro RSCG, part of Havas Advertising, will handle fabric, dishwashing and home care products. The agency's London office will lead in organizing advertising efforts.

total media spending on these brands is $430 million. The company is not disclosing how the money will be divided among the various accounts.

A Reckitt Benckiser spokesman said JWT will handle brands including Lysol, Easy-Off, Mop & Glo, Dettol, Veet and various over-the-counter health care products in Europe. Euro RSCG's assignments include Woolite, Resolve, Spray & Wash, Jet Dry, Electrosol and Wizard.

Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann Erickson Worldwide was the previous agency; that agency's work with Reckitt Benckiser will end in June 2002.

Media unaffected
Current media planning and buying arrangements are unaffected by these assignments, the company said.

Havas' Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer Euro RSCG already has Reckitt's $15 million French's Mustard account.
