Richards Group, Deutsch Vie for Wine Maker's Work

SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Wine maker Robert Mondavi, Oakville, Calif., has narrowed the pitch for its Woodbridge account to two agencies, a winery official said.

The two remaining finalists are independent Richards Group, Dallas, and Interpublic Group of Cos.' Deutsch Los Angeles, and a decision is expected next week after the two shops "follow up on a few items," the official said.

the pitch included Interpublic's Dailey & Associates, Los Angeles, the incumbent; independent Venables, Bell & Partners, San Francisco; and Omnicom Group's GSD&M, Austin.

Richard Roth Associates, New York, is handling the pitch. Billings on the account are under $10 million.

Media for the account was at Dailey, but that shop will no longer be connected with Mondavi and is looking for other wine business, an agency official said.
