Six Chase $20 Million Creative Account

SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Carpet One, part of CCA Global Partners, has narrowed the search for an advertising agency to six agencies.

They are New York-based Ocean Group, the incumbent agency, and Berenter, Greenhouse & Webster; Interpublic Group of Cos.' Campbell Ewald West, and Dentsu's Colby & Partners, both Santa Monica; and independents Doner, Southfield, Mich., and Modernista!, Boston.

The field for the creative-only account is expected to be narrowed to four shops as early as next week, with a decision to come down in March. Carpet One's budget is anticipated to be as much as $20 million, although the independent dealers in the aggregate have spent as much as $60 million on advertising.

Carpet One, based in Manchester, N.H., represents more than 1,000 independent flooring stores in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
