NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Retailer Carrefour Group, one of Frances' largest advertisers, is moving its $180 million corporate communications account for France to Havas from Publicis Groupe, a Havas spokesman said.

In a review that reached the holding-company level, the Havas pitch was coordinated by Mercedes Erra, chairman of Euro RSCG France and president of BETC Euro RSCG. Havas' chairman-CEO, Alain de Pouzilhac, and executives from main agency BETC Euro RSCG and marketing services companies were also pulled into the pitch.

Havas competed for the account against Publicis and WPP Group, led by Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide.

Carrefour is the world's second-largest retailer behind U.S.-based Wal-Mart, with thousands of hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores across France and worldwide.
