Omnicom Shop to Handle Brand Architecture

By Published on .

BOSTON (AdAge.com) -- Troubled corporation Tyco International has selected Omnicom Group's Interbrand to work on brand architecture, a new project to improve efficiency among the company's 20-plus brands.

Interbrand and Interpublic's Futurebrand had competed for a brand identity assignment, but the scope of the project had changed to just brand architecture, a Tyco spokesman said.

The two accounts will amount to no more than $1 million in billings for the rest of the year, the Tyco spokesman said. He said Tyco had not determined a 2004 budget for the corporate entity.

The company spent $1.1 million on corporate advertising in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR. That assignment does not cover advertising for Tyco holdings such as ADT, the home security company. Other businesses include electronics, health care and plastics.

Tyco has been reeling from scandals surrounding the activities of former CEO Dennis Kozlowski and other top executives uncovered nearly one year ago.
