WPP's J. Walter Thompson has elevated its New York managing directors, one of them to fill the vacant post of president at the office.
Lynn Power was named president of the New York office, where she will lead operations alongside new Chief Creative Officer Adam Kerj. And Claire Capeci has been named global president-retail, a new role created by Global CEO Gustavo Martinez.
They continue to report to Mr. Martinez. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Although Ms. Power and Ms. Capeci had been leading the New York office as managing directors, its prior president, Peter Sherman, has been gone since December 2013. Mr. Kerj likewise fills a position that has been vacant since Matt McDonald left for BBDO in late 2013. Mr. Kerj, who starts this week, reports to Worldwide Chief Creative Officer Matt Eastwood.
"Adam and Lynn make an exceptional team," Mr. Martinez said in a statement. "They are the kind of leaders who will foster a creative, curious and collaborative culture, drive growth and further enhance our creative reputation, ultimately helping us to deliver on our mission to create pioneering solutions that build enduring brands and business."
Ms. Capeci will run the agency's global efforts on retail businesses, an extension of her work leading the Energizer and Macy's accounts. She will continue to oversee both, while developing JWT's global retail portfolio.
"This is a natural evolution of her role, as we have been leaning on Claire to drive innovation in the retail category for some time. She knows our network inside out, and is perfectly positioned to drive growth for this practice around the world," Mr. Martinez said.
