The other finalists for the estimated $240 million account were independent Cramer Krasselt, Chicago; Omnicom Group's GSD&M, Austin, Texas; and MDC Partners' Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, New York.
David & Goliath, which has had the account since 1999, had an automatic berth to the final round.
Kia said it called the review in early June to "see what else is out there," not due to dissatisfaction with David & Goliath.
Achenbaum Bogda Associates, Raleigh, N.C., conducted the review. Kia dropped the original search consultant, AAR Partners, New York, because of a conflict with the Subaru of America agency review.
The automaker has had a good run since it started selling small, inexpensive sport utility vehicles and cars regionally in 1994. Kia said its U.S. sales through November rose by about 3% to nearly 250,000 units.
Kia Motors America is the domestic sales, marketing and service division of Kia Motors Corp., of Seoul, South Korea.
