Agency Beat Out Arnold Worldwide for Work

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- The Andrews Jergens Co. has selected Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners to handle its $100 million creative and media account, according to the marketer.

The decision comes following a review; the independent agency, based in New York, beat out Havas' Arnold Worldwide, also New York.

Consultants AAR Partners, New York, handled the agency search.

and marketing for Jergens, said Kirshenbaum was selected "because we're really pretty hung up on being a premium beauty-care company, and they really rang all the bells." He said Kirshenbaum's work for Target stores and Revlon cosmetics and hair-care products was a deciding factor.

Kirshenbaum will handle creative responsibilities and the Media Kitchen, its media division, will handle media planning. Interpublic Group of Cos.' Initiative Media will continue with media buying responsibilities.

The accounts for several of the company's brands had been at Interpublic's Bozell, New York, but Interpublic merged Bozell into sibling Lowe, New York, shifting the accounts as well. Jergens had cited possible client conflicts with Lowe as a reason to conduct a review.

Cincinnati-based Jergens is a subsidiary of the Kao Corp., and its brands include Jergens and Curel hand and body lotions, Biore facial care and Ban antiperspirants.
