NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Liz Ross, most recently Digitas' chief growth officer, has been tapped to serve as North American CEO of Interpublic Group of Cos.' Mediabrands Ventures. She will report directly to global CEO Matt Freeman.
Mr. Freeman, who is fast friends with Ms. Ross, having worked with her at Omnicom Group's Tribal DDB, said her primary task will be "knitting together" for Interpublic clients the various offerings sitting under Mediabrands. Those include Velociter, IPG Lab's Retail Experience Center, Reprise Media and Geomentum.
"Liz is the perfect combination of an amazing leader that people want to follow and an incredible client person," Mr. Freeman said. "She is also very focused on solving business problems for clients and has a great understanding of technology. That is a strong trifecta of skills."
Ms. Ross is a nearly 20-year industry veteran, having spent time at Modem Media in San Francisco before joining Tribal DDB in 2004. She rose to become U.S. president at Tribal before departing in 2009 to join Publicis Groupe's Digitas. She admits her new role will be an entirely different beast than her past agency experiences, but is looking forward to the challenge.
"For me, the opportunity to drive leading edge development is a home run," Ms. Ross said. "This is going to be pretty different. At Digitas, it was about selling the agency, and this is all about designing innovative media programs."
