Wyse began working with Marathon on a project basis last year, developing a radio campaign for a recently launched Marathon platinum credit card. The agency will work up new broadcast, print and outdoor ads for Marathon's 16-state marketing area.
The review, which covered creative and media services, initially included 10 agencies, Craig Weigand, manager of advertising and credit card for the Findlay, Ohio-based Marathon, said in a statement.
Executives of Marathon Ashland could not immediately be reached for comment.
The initial field of 10 agencies was narrowed earlier this year to four, said Marc Wyse, founder and CEO of the agency, but he said he didn't know what other agencies participated.
The incumbent on the account was Berline Group, Detroit.
Marathon spent $7 million on measured media last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
