Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, currently handles advertising for Marriott's Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn, Town Place, Spring Hill Suites, Fairfield Inns, Renaissance hotels and flagship Marriott brands.
'Expand its resources'
A McCann executive confirmed the addition of McGarry Bowen, saying that "Marriott wanted to expand its resources."
Calls to Marriott International were not returned at press time.
Spending on the various brands is estimated at $80 million in the U.S. based on spending data for 2002 from TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
Media buying and planning duties remain with Interpublic's Universal McCann.
