SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices has awarded its $25 million to $30 million global account to Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson, San Francisco.

in Sunnyvale, Calif., is a global supplier of microprocessors, integrated circuits, flash memory and other technology components. In recent years, the company's lower pricing for consumer PCs at retail has undercut Intel Corp.'s Pentium chip dynasty.

Other finalists pitching for the account were Bcom3 Group's LBWorks, Chicago, and WPP Group's Y&R Advertising, San Francisco.

Select Resources International, West Hollywood, Calif., handled the review.

Interpublic's Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, Boston, is AMD's domestic agency. Publicis, London, was the lead European resource.

McCann-Erickson's San Francisco office also is the agency for Microsoft Corp.
